1. Why Falls License Bureau? Falls License Bureau is an independently operated Deputy Registrar and Drivers License Agent, and is not run by the state. By using this local Deputy Registrar office, you in turn keep a portion of your money in our community. This in turn helps keep our community strong!
2. I did not receive my renewal notice, what do I do? Bring in your drivers license or ID along with the vehicle plate or vin number(s). Be sure to also bring your current insurance information. We will then be able sell you your tabs & print your registration card(s).
3. Can someone else purchase my tabs for me?
MOTOR VEHICLE: If registration is being purchased by someone other than the registered owner, you must have one of the following:
• The current renewal notice
• Or a signed & dated authorization detailing your name & theirs, vehicle description (plate number, etc) allowing them to purchase your tabs. CLICK HERE for Authorization Form.
• We will need the current insurance information as well.
DNR: If registration is being purchased by someone other than the registered owner, you must have one of the following:
• The current renewal notice
• Or a signed permission slip from the registered owner along with a copy of the registered owners driver’s license or ID

4. How can I process transactions by mail or after hours? You may mail transactions to:

5. Do I have until the 10th of the month to purchase my tabs? No, you have until the last day of the expiring month to purchase your tabs. You then have until the 10th of the following month to display them.
6. I’m in a hurry to get my title, what can I do? Expedited titles are available for an extra $20, some restrictions apply. If you are requesting a duplicate title, we are now able print duplicate motor vehicle titles in our office in most cases.
7. My Driver’s License has expired, what should I do? As of now, you cannot legally drive. You do have up to 1 year to renew your license before you have to retest. As long as it has not been expired for over a year, you can renew at our office as usual (an expired license cannot be used as documentation for a Real or EDL application).
8. How do I check the status of my Driver’s License? You can check the status of your driver’s license at drive.mn.gov
9. What forms of payment do you accept? We accept credit & debit cards, however there is an additional 2.15% convenience fee that will be charged for each transaction. This fee is charged by the credit card service provider. This office does not receive any of these convenience fees. Visa, MasterCard, Discover & American Express are accepted. We accept Cash and checks with proper ID (a valid drivers license or state ID & phone number). Any returned check is subject to a $30 fee & criminal charges.
10. How do I take my driver’s license test? Falls License Bureau is a Minnesota Department of Public Safety Driver and Vehicle Services Approved Class D Third-Party Web-Based Knowledge Testing Proctor. Class D Permit tests are Proctored Mon-Fri here at the Bureau for $10 each. Please stop in for available times. All other testing including the knowledge test can be taken at the Exam Station on Tuesdays from 10:15-11:15. The Exam Station is located in the Backus Building at 900 5th Street Room 209, International Falls. For all Skill Tests, go to drive.mn.gov.
11. Can I advertise at your business? Yes. We have 3 large screen TVs to display your advertisements. We have a large customer base. Take advantage of this and expose your business to the whole community. CLICK HERE to download our brochure.

13. What holidays are you closed? OFFICE HOURS: Our normal business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm excluding all major holidays – as listed below.

15. I need to know how much I paid last year on my tabs for taxes, how can I find out? Unfortunately, we are unable to give you this information due to data privacy laws. The amount you paid is listed on your registration card that comes with your tabs each year. You can also go to drive.mn.gov to look up this information.
